If you want a new mainsheet, FM Sailing recommends going for 6mm for light winds, 7mm for a good all-rounder, or 8mm for an extra comfortable option.
For jib or spinnaker sheets, generally 6mm will be a great option, or 7mm if you want something a little more comfortable. Of course this depends on the sailor and the sheet loads.
