The Ultimate Soft Shackle
From the studios of Fresh & Marsh rope work solutions (aka FM Sailing), we're delighted to present “The Ultimate Soft Shackle”.
Quite the claim, but we think it's deserving.
Why? Read on…
It starts off the same way most soft shackles do, with a 12 strand dyneema core, so you know it's got the strength to handle pretty much whatever you can throw at it.
But the real exciting part is the chafeguard cover from Marlow Ropes. The main reason we've seen soft shackles fail is not from being pulled apart by extreme loading, it's from being abraded and worn out over time until the dyneema snaps due to excess wear and fatigue. Therefore, by adding a chafeguard cover, which has been specifically designed by the rope-gurus at Marlow Ropes to be highly wear resistant and low friction, we can protect the load bearing dyneema and extend the lifespan of the soft shackle significantly!
Not only that, but by using contrasting colours (blue chafeguard with pink dyneema) it means that when your chafeguard does eventually start to wear through, you're more likely to notice the bright pink dyneema is showing - which gives you an early indicator that your soft shackle is starting to wear and needs to be replaced at some point in the near-ish future.
Finished off with a diamond knot, and ready to attach to your boat, add one or two to your basket and treat yourself (and your boat) to the Ultimate Soft Shackle!
